Taxation/Tax Reform

Keeping Taxes Low for Families and Small Businesses

It is critical to keep taxes low so that families have more money to spend as they see fit, particular during this current economic crisis. Senator McCain recognizes the importance of encouraging work, investment and innovation, and is committed to extending the tax rate reductions put in place by President Bush and opposing any new taxes increases advanced by the Democratic Congressional Majority.

Making American Companies More Competitive

At 35 percent, the United States’ corporate tax rate is one of the highest in the developed world. This makes American businesses less competitive in the global marketplaces and encourages companies to send jobs elsewhere to friendly business climates. Senator McCain recognizes that everyone benefits from a dynamic growing economy and therefore is committed to lowering the corporate tax rates (to 25 percent) so that American business can flourish and create more jobs for Americans.
